If your bike is equipped with a GPS tracker, we could ask you a screenshot of your application in case of theft that proves that your bike was well equipped with the GPS tracker during the theft. More informations here.
Let’s say you go for a drink and despite locking your bike properly, someone manages to steal it. We’ll refund its full value. And we don’t charge you any excess, nor do we take into account bike value depreciation in the first three years.
Material damage protection
We pay for repairs to your bike when material damage has been caused by an accident, vandalism, flood, or fire and other external events. An excess of £35 applies.
You have an accident and are blocked in the middle of nowhere ? We know it can be annoying. That's why we’ll cover up to £200 to pay for a taxi or train to complete your journey. After a theft or an accident you can rent a replacement bike during the period where you are left stranded and we’ll pay for you.
The bike must be locked with an approved lock - either ABUS (security 10 or higher), ART (category 2 or higher), FUB (2 wheels or higher), or Sold Secure Silver (or Gold) - and must have been attached to a fixed point during its theft.
Wheels, tyres and electric batteries are not covered if they are stolen separately from the bike.
Cosmetic damage (scratches, bumps, etc.) is not covered.
Damage due to participation in a cycle race is not covered.

We also cover second-hand bikes, provided they are fewer than 12 months old at the time of purchase. In the case of second-hand bikes and new bikes over 30 days old, we will ask you to send us recent photos of your bike when taking out the policy.
What is theft insurance?
We insure bikes against theft and damage caused in the event of theft or attempted theft, as well as theft or attempted theft caused by assault.
What is material damage insurance?
We intervene in the event of material damage to the insured bike:
accidentally caused to the insured bike by external forces or accidentally caused by yourself;
caused by an act of vandalism;
caused by contact with animals or natural elements such as fire or flood.
What are my obligations?
The bicycle must be locked with a ABUS (security 10 or higher), ART (category 2 or higher), VdS (A+ or B+), FUB (2 wheels or higher), Sold Secure Silver (or Gold), Onguard locks or SRA bicycle lock AND used in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions. The bike must ALSO be locked to a fixed point (e.g. a post) at the time of the theft. Examples of approved locks here.
You must file a statement concerning the theft of your insured bike with the relevant police authorities within 24 hours of the incident.
You must supply the purchase invoice of your bike when filing a claim for compensation.
You must file your claim as soon as possible after the incident and within 8 days of the time when you became aware of the incident.
The information you supply when taking out the policy must be accurate.
If the bike is more than 30 days old, you must supply photographs when taking out the policy.
Can I cancel my insurance?
Qover will notify you of your contract renewal at least 28 days before your policy’s expiry date. You may decide to cancel the renewal no later than 10 days before the start date of the new policy.
You may cancel your policy at the latest 15 days after payment or upon refusal to pay compensation in respect of a claim. The policy will expire 15 days after the date of notification.
You may cancel your insurance within 14 calendar days of purchase or of receiving the contract.
Where does the coverage apply?
The theft and material damage coverage is valid for incidents in EU Member States, the United Kingdom, Northern Ireland, Andorra, Monaco, the Vatican, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, San Marino and Switzerland.
What is Emergency expense?
The guarantee applies when the insured is immobilized and unable to complete his journey with the insured bike due to a:
Bodily injury consecutive of the use of the bike
We cover, during the entire duration of the immobilization of the bike or insured's immobilization, the bike rental or travel costs incurred, to go the place where the insured needs to go and then the return to the insureds residence or the residence designated by him;
We pay for this guarantee based on supporting documents and up to a maximum £ 200 per claim.
This guarantee is limited to 3 claims per insurance year.

Bike insurance is a non-life insurance product (Branch 3).
This contract is entered into for a period of one year. The contract may be renewed twice for two further periods of one year each.
This insurance contract is subject to the laws of England and Wales.
